“Knowledge without application is like a book that is never read.” – Christopher Crawford

We are affiliated to CBSE under which the students read NCERT books. However, to enhance their learning, we have incorporated other audio-visual content under TeachNext program. TeachNext offers digital classes on all subjects mapped according to CBSE syllabus. It offers end-to-end support for teachers, from lesson planning to assessment of students to generating student report cards, etc. The concept of smart classes has ensured that students’ clarity of various subjects increase. Teachers use TeachNext’s digital content, which are audio-visual in nature, to clear concepts of lessons taught from textbooks.

We have also got several e-content subscriptions for the children. They can access a world of information via the school’s subscription of approved academic contents, such as e-magazines and various audio-visual materials. Portfolio management is a skill we teach our students right from the primary classes. Students are taught to manage their worksheets, assessment sheets, class activities and any other school project. This helps students track their own learning curve and is a visual reinforcement of their progress. The Library is an inviting space in school that is completely carpeted and has quiet corners for reading. The love for learning is further enforced through quality reading activities in classrooms. Likewise, public speaking forms an important part of our day to day class teaching. Students are encouraged to frame proper and to-the-point questions when they want to clear their doubts or want to share opinions. Our teachers focus on children’s listening abilities as well and teach them how to be good listeners and sit in class with complete attention.

Mock Market is a concept that trains students about business. A mock market is set up in school campus to give the students a feel of how the market functions in a real world. 3Rs to preserve environment is another program in classrooms that is aimed at making students friendly towards their environment. Teachers teach them 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle of any material they use. The gardening program in school also prepares students to know about flowers, the eco system and foster positive behavior towards their surroundings.

Besides these we have a ‘social contract’ in every grade, wherein students set an expectation of behaviour and communication with the teachers. This has really enriched the bond between the teachers and students in our school. Simple routines like ‘meet and greet’ with a smile goes a long way in keeping the atmosphere in school happy and healthy.

Experts@SMS is a program under which we invite people from various professional backgrounds to give students insights into new work avenues in the world and encourage them to find their own potential. Besides doctors, engineers, government service officers, students love to interact with those from ‘offbeat’ careers such as shoe designers, architects, dancers and musicians for example.
